Frequently Asked Questions

Beginning October 1, 2019, we will no longer ask alumni to pay a membership fee to be part of the Alumni Association. All of our nearly 200,000 Bobcat alumni will officially be part of the Association.

These changes will allow us to roll out new programs and services for all Bobcats, including you. We are committed to creating a culture of engagement, connection and philanthropy, and highlighting the important role our alumni play within the University community and beyond.

What has changed?

  • All Texas State graduates are now considered part of the Alumni Association. As of October 1, no membership dues are required.
  • All alumni are encouraged to support the Alumni Association in this new direction by giving to the Alumni Priority Fund.
  • We will soon be launching a new program to recognize all alumni who have provided cumulative support of $1,000 or more to the Alumni Association.

Why is this change necessary?

Connecting and engaging alumni is at the core of our mission to inform, involve and serve members of the Bobcat Alumni family throughout their lifelong relationship with the university. Removing our current transactional membership structure creates an expanded opportunity for the Texas State Alumni Association to reach more of our alumni than ever before. And, a large and engaged alumni body makes Texas State University even stronger.

How can I support the Alumni Association?

Texas State alumni are encouraged to support the important work of the Alumni Association by making a gift of any amount to the Alumni Priority Fund. These gifts can be made online at alumni.txstate.edu, by phone at 512-245-2371, or by mail to Texas State University, 601 University Drive, JC Kellam Suite #480, San Marcos, TX 78666.

How will the Alumni Association use my gift?

All gifts made to the Alumni Priority Fund will support programs designed to engage and serve all Texas State alumni.

How will this change affect my alumni benefits?

The membership benefits you enjoy will be retained, and we're now working to extend them to your fellow graduates as we broaden our alumni network.

Will my current alumni dues payment be affected?

  • Alumni and friends who have paid their life membership in full will continue to receive recognition for their past commitment to the Alumni Association.
  • Recurring gift pledges will continue to support the Alumni Association through the new Alumni Priority Fund. Alumni who would like to change or cancel an existing pledge or recurring payments can contact Kim Gannon, director of Alumni Relations and executive director of the Alumni Association, at 512-245-2371, or by email at alumni@txstate.edu.

I still have questions. Who can I talk to?

We understand you may have more questions. You can contact Kim Gannon, director of Alumni Relations and executive director of the Alumni Association, at 512-245-2371, or by email at alumni@txstate.edu.
