Network Leader
Mark Cardenas, '15
My name is Mark Cardenas, Class of ’15, BA-Psychology. I have been involved with the San Antonio Network since 2016. Currently, I'm an After School Supervisor for IDEA Public Schools. Previously, I worked as a Substitute Teacher for SAISD. It has encouraged me to continue my education in getting my master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from the University of Texas - San Antonio and working on my teaching certification for Special Education. I have a huge family and a wonderful puppy named Brownie. Please feel free to email me at alumni@txstate.edu.
About Us
The LGBTQIA Alumni Network is a connection between not only TXST Alum with different sexual orientations, but we all come from different backgrounds, education, and professions coming together to build positive and everlasting relationships. We are here to help each other navigate the world and how we can give back to TXST current and former students and our community.
My hopes are to be able to have Zoom Happy Hours, in the near future, so that we can all connect and network. Bobcats helping Bobcats!
Regarding the LGBTQIA Alumni Network, we do have some exciting things happening! I highly encourage you to like and connect with us on Facebook and Instagram.
If you do not have social media, the LGBTQIA Network will send emails regarding any of our upcoming events. Our FB page has all our most updated event information. Unfortunately, due to COVID we have not had an in-person Alumni events, but virtual events have been the norm! As we continue to navigate through these times, we will keep everyone updated and try our best to keep ourselves and alumni safe.
Furthermore, we continue to try to form relationships, effective communications, and events that are catered to this network. We welcome ideas, thoughts, and feelings through workshops, mentoring, and other events that encourage alumni to “get out of their shells” and network with other professionals and people that have gone through certain experiences as you!
If you have any advice or ideas about what you want from the network, we are here to listen!
