Black Alumni Network
Jessica Dawson

Network Leader

Jessica Dawson, '12

I am Jessica Dawson, and I am leading the Black Alumni Network for Bobcats that identify as Black, African, African American, or any variation along the Black Diaspora. As a Bobcat I was involved with Black Women United, Black Student Alliance, Paws Preview, and the African- American Leadership Conference. I learned about the power of community, support, and service through the various organizations and departments that I worked with while attending Texas State University. I gained my passion for higher education through the support system created at Texas State, and through the Black Alumni Network I can give back to the university that I hold near to my heart. I earned my B.S. in Applied Sociology and currently reside in San Antonio, Texas. I currently work for our rival institution, The University of Texas at San Antonio in the Leadership and Volunteer Service Office. As a third-generation Bobcat, married to another Bobcat we hope to raise our children to be fourth-generation bobcats!

We're grateful to alumnus Chef Trent Boudreaux (B.B.A. '01) for sharing his talents with us virtually during our February 2021 alumni cooking class! If you weren't able to join us, or just want to revisit his chicken and sausage gumbo recipe, the event recording is now available.

Juneteenth Game Night

In June, we hosted a Juneteenth Game Night that gave Bobcats the opportunity to gather virtually, meet, chat, and play games.
