Living Legends: Where Are They Now?

On February 4, 1963 at 3:15pm, Dana Smith and three other black women from San Marcos, TX -Georgia Faye Hoodye, Gloria Odoms, and Mabeleen Washington, registered for classes assisted
by the registrar, Clem Jones. On Tuesday, Helen Jackson, another black student enrolled at Southwest Texas State College (now Texas State), integrating the college for the first time in its 60-year history. At this event, attendees will have an opportunity to hear “HER-Story” as told by the First Five Freedom Women (both in person and virtual appearances) who helped integrate Southwest Texas State (now Texas State University.) Each of these women have stories and will share how it all happened and where they are now.
