Young Alumni Council LogoThe Texas State Alumni Association is proud to announce the launch of the Young Alumni Council (YAC). The Council serves to encourage young alumni engagement with the university as members of the Alumni Association, keep The Association relevant and enticing to young alumni, and advocate for the needs and interests of young alumni to the Alumni Board of Directors as the voice of the young alumni population. The inaugural Young Alumni Council is comprised of 20 Members-at-Large who represent the diverse population of Bobcats under 40. The Council formally meets three times per year on the Texas State campus, with supplemental meetings of the Council's committees and task forces as needed. Inaugural committees of the Young Alumni Council will focus on key areas of young alumni engagement, to include:

  • Student Transition: This group will focus on assisting graduating Bobcats in the transition from student to alumnus, including career guidance and support, networking and alumni engagement in their area. This committee will also focus on strengthening student engagement efforts, especially with juniors and seniors and in programs such as the Ring Ceremony.
  • Leadership Development: Members of this committee will strategize with campus partners and community leaders to engage young alumni with tools to strengthen them as leaders in their careers and in volunteer settings. Areas of focus may include career support, networking and mentorship programs, Alumni Chapter leadership teams, and preparing fellow young alumni to serve in leadership roles such as the Young Alumni Council and Board of Directors.
  • Outreach: The Outreach committee serves to engage young alumni with the Alumni Association itself, promoting Association membership and its values, benefits, and incentives. Further, the team will strategize along with the Alumni Relations staff to market to and engage with young alumni for its events, programs, and memberships more effectively, increasing the relevance of the Association to its more recent graduates.
